Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the State Prosecutor's General Office reflect, in principle, the judicial functions of the Court, the main ones being:
- drafting and submitting an Opinion (proposal) on all judicial cases of the Hellenic Court of Audit and representation, in the public interest, during their discussion in court,
- άσκηση ενδίκων βοηθημάτων και μέσων (έφεση, αίτηση αναιρέσεως, κ.α.) κατά αποφάσεων ή πράξεων των δικαστικών σχηματισμών του Ελεγκτικού Συνεδρίου,
- drafting and filing an application against a public employee or official for his/her imputation either due to the possession of illegal material benefit (“from where”) or due to causing damage to the State, local authorities and other legal entities,
- submitting a request before the Three-Member Committee for the introduction of a legal remedy or measure before the Plenum Session of the Court when it raises an issue of general interest (model trial),
- drafting an Opinion on the pension bills introduced to the Plenum Session of the Court or bills related to the Court's responsibilities, as well as on questions submitted by Ministers (mainly Ministers of Finance),
- παρακολούθηση των εργασιών και της λειτουργίας του Ελεγκτικού Συνεδρίου και ενημέρωση σχετικώς του Υπουργού Δικαιοσύνης,
- supervision over the bodies that exercise control over illegal financial gain (from assets), as well as the possibility of ordering them to conduct an audit regarding the acquisition of illegal financial gain by public servants and officials,
- assignment, by act of the State Prosecutor General, to a special team of judicial officers of the Commissioner General to conduct an audit regarding the acquisition of illegal financial benefits by public servants and officials,
- cooperation with national, European and international agencies to combat corruption and
- participation of the judicial officers of the State Prosecutor's General Office in the judicial and service councils of the Hellenic Court of Audit, as well as in working groups.
