Georgios Lassanis
Fighter and writer. He was born in Kozani in 1793. Pursued by Ali Pasha, he fled to Budapest. He studied Medicine and Philology at the University of Leipzig. He fought with Alex Ypsilantis and arrived in Greece in 1828. Member of the Society of Friends. He was appointed commander of Eastern Greece, fighting alongside Dim. Ypsilantis. After independence he served as Inspector General of Army Att. of Greece and Prefect of Attikovoiotia and Fthiotidos - Fokidos (Government Gazette A΄ 6/1836 where his resignation is accepted). He was Minister of Finance from 13/2/1836 to 2/2/1837 in the Government of Joseph ΄Armansberg and from 2/2/1837 to 21/3/1837 in the Government of Ign. Rudhart. Subsequently, he was appointed State Prosecutor General of the Hellenic Court of Audit from 3/4/1837 (Government Gazette A΄ 3/1837) until the year 1839 and ceased with the N.D. December 4/16, 1839 (Government Gazette A΄ 25). With N.D. of 18/12/1849 (Government Gazette A΄ 44/27.12.1849 he was appointed Commander Falangos and General Secretary of the Ministries of Military Affairs. In the year 1861 with the B.D. 7/10/1861 (Government Gazette 73/25.11.1891) he was appointed Royal Commissioner to the National Bank and in the year 1868 he attained the rank of Major General and died on 6/7/1870.
